London born Ranjana has always felt a strong passion and curiosity about her South Asian roots. She has expressed her love of this culture through several years of training in North Indian singing, whilst immersing herself in the life and sounds of contemporary Britain. After seeing her favourite singer perform in London, Ranjana entered a new chapter of her life by starting a new phase of training with acclaimed vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty in Kolkata, India(2000).
Eugene Skeef is a South African percussionist, composer, poet, educationalist and activist and has lived in London since 1980. He also works in conflict resolution, acts as a consultant on cultural development, teaches creative leadership and is a broadcaster. The heart of his music both draws deeply from his South African heritage and a wealth of other influences, brought together in a unique musical practice.
The evening will also feature a new work specially written for this event by Chris Corcoran one of our two Sound and Music Embedded artists.
Food from 7pm, performances from 8pm.
