Club Inégales stands at the leading edge of contemporary creative music in the UK, bringing artists from around the world and many fine musical traditions together in cross-cultural music-making of the highest standard.
Established in 2015, Academy Inégales has opened up the Inégales approach to artists keen to develop their musical craft in the fertile, creative atmosphere of the Club. The success and demand for this has led to this the first Academy Inégales Weekender.
Led by Club Inégales founding director Peter Wiegold and co-director Martin Butler, this 2-day programme of workshops, masterclasses and mentored creative development will culminate in a public performance by participants in our Euston venue. Participants will also work with international artists Syrian Maya Youssef (kanun) , Chinese Cheng Yu (pipa), Korean Hyelim Kim (taegum flute) and members of the resident band Notes Inégales.
The Summer 2016 Academy Inégales Weekender will take place on 23rd & 24th July. It will comprise morning and afternoon sessions on each day, a club performance featuring our guest artists on the Saturday evening and a public performance of the Academy Inégales partipants and mentors on the Sunday evening.
Open to composers, performers and composer-performers, participants will gain musical and cultural insight from each of these artists and devise new work with and for them and each other.
There are 16 places available on the Summer 2016 Academy Inégales Weekender and we’re keen to hear from a wide range of composers and performers from any tradition eager to take up this opportunity. Please let us know a little about you and your practice and why you want to take part.
The fee for the Summer 2016 Academy Inégales Weekender is £125 and includes an Indian meal from our Drummond Street neighbours, Taste of India, and it’s free to apply.
